Short summary
The subject of evolution is often a hotly debated one. Everyone has a theory and evidence to suggest that they’re right. However, few philosophers have reached the lofty heights of reliance than Ken Wilber.
Focusing upon the development of the human race, our conscious decisions, and how we can use that knowledge to improve our lives in the future, A Brief History of Everything is a poignant and thought-provoking read.
An internationally renowned philosopher, Ken Wilber, is the bestselling author of 25 books that have sold all over the world. His most recent book will make you think carefully about how you live your life and how we have come to be where we’re standing today.
“Evolution meanders more than it progresses. But over the long haul, evolution has a broad telos, a broad direction, which is particularly obvious with increasing differentiation.” ~ Ken Wilber
A different view of the universe to show everything is connected

The beginning of the universe is a contested subject. However, scientists and researchers all agree that the universe began 13 billion years ago, which was at the time of the Big Bang. Of course, the universe is vast, and we still don’t know its entire dimensions. However, it is thought to have a diameter of 10 billion light-years.
Every so often, researchers and scientists find a new galaxy, adding to the overall size of the universe. But, what is the universe? It is generally used as a term used to describe all existing space and matter combined as one single whole. However, considering that we don’t know its full dimensions, there may be more surprises to come in the future.
If the universe is thought to be the sum of everything, Ken Wilber sees things differently. The reason? Ken Wilber doesn’t believe in wholes. He is a firm believer that everything is connected and nothing is a single whole, standing alone. Instead, everything is a part of something else.
For instance, take the atom and the molecule. You would assume them to be two single entities. Yet, when you delve a little deeper, you’ll see that one atom connects with another and begins to form a molecule. That’s a firm connection between the two — one cannot exist without the other.
Nothing is a single whole. Everything is part of something else, creating a never-ending cycle of evolution.
Ken Wilber believes that our reality is made up of a series of what he calls “holons.” A holon is something that seems independent as its own entity, but it’s actually part of another so-called whole. Everything is connected, even if you can’t see it.
Throughout A Brief History of Everything, Ken Wilber talks about the holon theory and how it often falls short in some areas of discussion. For instance, is the universe an actual whole, or is it a holon, with something much bigger yet to be discovered? Within this summary, you’ll find many other questions to tease your mind and make you amazed at the evolution our world achieves every single day.

Gender roles still exist, despite good progress towards equality
The subject of gender is a complex one. Even in this forward-thinking age, there are still gender roles in place. The man is meant to be the powerful one, the one in charge. The woman is meant to be the motherly, sensitive one. However, we see more and more men embracing their sensitive sides and more women taking charge of businesses. Within that, we have those who do not identify with a gender. A tremendous amount of progress has been made here, but equality still evades us.
"A Brief History of Everything" is a comprehensive exploration of the evolution of human consciousness and the interconnectedness of all aspects of existence. Ken Wilber delves into various disciplines, including science, philosophy, psychology, and spirituality, to present a unified framework that encompasses the physical, mental, and spiritual dimensions of reality. This thought-provoking book offers a profound understanding of the universe, our place in it, and the potential for personal and collective transformation.
Who should read A Brief History of Everything

Students of spirituality and consciousness exploring the interconnectedness of existence.

Headway is the answer! No longer accumulating books I never read. With Headway, I initially chose the areas important to me such as productivity, time management, etc., and each day I'm provided several book summaries from which I devote 20 minutes or more each day reading. All of this on my phone! My life has improved with Headway. Truly my most useful app.

In today’s world, we rarely have time. Between our jobs, our families are social obligations, when do we have time to grow and develop ourselves? Headway is an excellent app that gives you that time it gives you those little snippets of information that you need to direct your focus in on your life. Headway gives you a chance to find out the meat of a book that you might want to purchase and read or listen to in-depth without wasting a lot of time trying to figure out is this book for me? I highly recommend the app.

I've gotten multiple books out of the library with the intent to read them, but always have a hard time finding the time. This app has helped me finally be able to get to them. Summarized, yes, and thank goodness too! Just short enough I can finish one on my way picking kids up from school/practice, or while I'm cooking dinner. I can't wait to listen to them over the summer when we visit the beach!

It amazed me! There is the possibility to highlight the most important points of each book and instantly translate unfamiliar vocabulary. With the ability to review the searched words. It's a great way to learn more about English as well. The price is great.

I’m enjoying what I’m learning on headway.each summary comes with quotes at the end which you can save to help you remember key points. You can listen or read, I’ve found that reading puts me to sleep before I can finish but the listening feature keeps me engaged and I can finish in a brief amount of time if not one session.

Exactly what I need! I always have booklist to read, but can't committed enough to finish/start bc of too much pages. Headway is really helpful and concise with their summary. What I love the most is that the essence of the book is well crafted, so I don't only read the key points, but also there's the story and how personality of the author still well shown through the summary. Well done!
