first KEY POINT
Almost every self-discovery program or book ever published focuses on fixing a problem, specifically identifying what is wrong and learning how to change it. Indeed, this is a negative way to think! Why not turn that around and focus on the good things, working to emphasize them instead?“Strengths Finder 2.0” is the second edition of the assessment based on the work of Donald O. Clifton (1924 - 2003). Clifton was the founder of “Strengths Finder” and received recognition in the psychology field in the U.S. Tom Rath took the teachings of Clifton and teamed up with researchers and scientists to help people understand their strengths and enhance them.
No human being is perfect. You could take two paths here — accept that you are not perfect and feel empowered or constantly fight your inner flaws. The you-can-be-anything-you-want-to-be narrative can make you chase things that are just not a match for you. Strengths Finder aims to bring awareness to what is right rather than wrong. You don’t always need to try and fix things or focus on shortcomings. If you do, it can quickly become highly negative, almost obsessive. Studies have shown that focusing on your positives and inner talents helps you reach your full potential. Everyone has weaknesses, but do you need to focus on them?
