first KEY POINT

Children's methods of knowing the world or the subtle art of creative thinking

Allie Brosh compares herself to a balloon tied to a car speeding 90 miles per hour. No one knows why it was tied to the car, but it seems funny and completely out of control. This is how Brosh has always felt.At the age of three, she decided to squeeze her entire body into the bucket her father used to wash the car. This goal was surprisingly pointless: it seemed to her that if the size of the bucket matched the size of her body, then she should undoubtedly climb into it. After several attempts and body configurations, the goal was achieved. But a nuance appeared: Brosh could not get out of the bucket. When her parents rescued her, they decided to hide the bucket. But young Brosh was unstoppable — she found the bucket wherever it was hidden because she figured it was better to get stuck in the bucket 19 times than to give up.

The scariest thing about decisions is that you don't know where they will lead until you try.

Brosh recalled learning that there were other people on Earth besides the inhabitants of her house. One day, she saw her neighbor, Richard, a middle-aged man who lived nearby. She got excited and decided to learn everything about this new human; she even ran away from home to spy on him and found herself near his front door, which, by chance, had a cat entrance. So Allie Brosh appeared in Richard's living room.Something inside Brosh suggested her actions were bad. But while her young brain was processing this information, she had already taken the first thing out of the neighbor's house. The obsession with Richard progressed: Brosh was sure that the stranger's personal belongings kept his secrets. She once shared her delight with her parents, stating that she is hanging out with a neighbor. Not surprisingly, her parents did not share her enthusiasm and immediately took their questions to Richard, who denied everything. The situation became more evident when she decided to take a loud souvenir from her neighbor's house — his cat. It turned out that the cat could not be hidden in the chest of drawers with the other souvenirs she had taken from Richard's world. This is how Brosh's parents learned the truth about her ghost-like friendship with the neighbor. And that was just the beginning of the amazing stories that have happened to Brosh throughout her life. Find yourself in her fascinating and touching world, where there is always a reason to smile, even through tears.

second KEY POINT

Living with animals is the best way to explore the human connection with nature

Unusual interactions with neighbors haunted adult Allie Brosh as well. She recalled a meeting with the girl next door. She was about five years old, and she stubbornly invited Brosh to see her room. Each day the neighbor girl came up with new reasons for Brosh to visit her room, for example, using strong arguments such as having a photo of a real horse. Brosh invented excuses not to see the room, like she was cursed and would turn into a lizard as soon as she entered that room. One day, she met the neighbor girl after a rough night and began to share inappropriate adult and slightly stoned thoughts with her. The obsessive invitations ended that day.Allie Brosh is surrounded by mysticism. Once, when she was a child, her family found horse feces in the house. But, since the horse could not enter the house, she held all family members, including the grandmother and the dogs, under suspicion. Indeed, her parents had already been exposed as Santa Claus and the tooth fairy — why couldn't they be the culprit this time too? The situation worsened, and one night Brosh and her little sister heard a noise outside the front door. Anticipating the mystery, they opened the door and saw their dog Murphy with a face full of frozen horse feces. The dog was on a diet and was expressing his displeasure with the prohibitions. Murphy received overnight house arrest for disturbing public order.Although the behavior of animals often seems strange and funny to people, people look just as odd in the eyes of animals. Brosh recalled falling asleep once while watching Animal Planet's whale show while her dog was resting nearby. During one episode, the whale made such a loud sound that Brosh suddenly woke up, doused herself with water, and yelled as she mistakenly thought someone was attacking her. Her actions frightened the dog; Brosh imagined that she looked like a weird kangaroo pig in her dog's eyes. But, alas, it is the destiny of pets to observe the shameful habits of the two-legged.
