first KEY POINT
This summary investigates the reasons or motives for racial injustices in America and debunks the general idea that life is better for Black people today. In fact, the fundamental mentality that created a breeding ground for slavery in America has waxed stronger over the years. Yet, The Black people’s cold conditions appear to continue.American society protects some classes of people based on education and financial capabilities while it exposes Blacks to many criminal injustices. A memorable case was that of the residents of Levittown, Pennsylvania, when they fought to know why their town was divided into racial classes. The white population used race as an opportunity to humiliate, intimidate, and annihilate people of color. Consider the brutality that Black people like Eric Garner, Renisha McBride, John Crawford, Tamir Rice, and Marlene Pinnick had to experience mainly at the hands of the police supposed to serve and protect them. The perpetrators of these acts have gone scot-free, even returning to active duty. Their fellow white Americans saw their inhumane act as patriotism to what the white America System stands for.
Yet, everyone appears to deny this fact with the facade of the American dream and democracy being sold in the country today. When Abraham Lincoln gave the Gettysburg address in 1863 and emphasized the permanence of democracy, he didn't have Black people in mind. They were not part of the “people” that the democratic system was to serve.
The concept of race was born out of the ideology of racism. Hierarchy, not physiognomy, has been used to differentiate. The division between white and Black in America is the subject of this summary. You’ll realize that there has not been a change in the racist mindset in America; the past centuries have simply shown a difference in the methods of promoting it. Hence, racism persists in America today. So, any real change must begin with the mindset.
second KEY POINT
While racism is not native to America, nor did it originate there, we should not shy away from its pervasiveness in the country. America pretends to be different. We act as if we have not been complicit in the violent exploitation of the human body. Anyone who lays claim to exceptionalism should be able to uphold an exceptional moral standard. Yet, America expects forgiveness for its human errors without taking responsibility for them and preventing them from repeating.
