first KEY POINT

Joe Biden had an early calling to the world of politics

At the age of 12, Joe Biden was introduced to the world of politics, in a rather unlikely setting — his grandfather’s kitchen.Despite the family home being in Delaware, Mr. & Mrs. Biden would take their children to go and stay at their grandfather’s house every weekend in Scranton, Pennsylvania. Joe Biden loved the weekends. He would run around the neighborhood with friends, eat delicious food and enjoy the family feel all around. The Bidens were Irish Catholics and the entire neighborhood was too. Every Sunday, they would attend mass and then go back home for a huge meal. It was here he learned about politics; listening to the men talking in the kitchen, becoming animated when discussing their views and opinions.

From an early age, Joe Biden understood that politics is a subject that creates passion.

His grandfather would talk to him about what was going on in the world and how the Government was handling it. It was here Joe Biden learned that no political group should be deemed better or more important than any other. From his grandfather he understood that politics is about giving your word and sticking to it. This has remained with him to this day.

second KEY POINT

Never let a stutter stand in your way

Joe Biden had a stutter in his early years, but he was determined not to let that stand in the way of his schoolwork, social life, and whatever he dreamed of next. Despite that, he became embarrassed and worried when he would have to deal with a situation that he hadn’t prepared for, such as public speaking.
